Vicarious Trauma and Cultivating Resiliency

A Zoom presentation on

Last day for registration is 5/13/2022, at 12 Noon

After you register, a link will be sent to you by our Zoom host Dean Bender prior to the presentation.

Description of Presentation
In these uncertain times, including COVID-19, climate change, and war, mental health professionals are more susceptible to vicarious trauma and burnout. Working more from home and online without our usual supports can add to challenges navigating professional and personal wellbeing. This training is an opportunity to explore how the collective climate is impacting our work.

Identifying and treating symptoms of vicarious trauma improves clinical efficacy. Issues with countertransference, projective identification and boundaries will be identified. Research regarding the psychophysiology of vicarious trauma and skill building for lowering autonomic nervous system arousal will be explored. We will discuss and experiment with the antidotes to vicarious trauma and then create a resiliency plan to sustain hopefulness and professionalism. There will also be time for connection with colleagues to replenish you and your work.
