The Sierra Foothills Chapter of CAMFT presents:

Personality Assessment
Using the Five Factor Model of Personality Assessment
Assessment and Interventions

Presented by

Dean R. Bender, CPA, LMFT

Dean Bender

Saturday, October 17, 2015
9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Dean R. Bender, CPA, LMFT Dean earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from National University in 2002 and is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a practice in Rocklin, CA. He has used personality testing with his clients since 2003 and has previously presented on this subject matter. LMFT is Dean’s second profession: he worked 35 years as a Certified Public Accountant.

Personality Assessment can be a significant tool in marital and individual therapy. This presentation will demonstrate how using the Five Factor Model for Personality Inventory gives indicators pointing towards each of the personality disorders and how to use the inventory in couples’ therapy to identify strengths and potential problem areas. Couples are very often fully engaged in this discussion and regularly are validated or get helpful insight.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this training, the participants will be able to:

  • Understand the differences and benefits of the Five Factor Model over Myers Briggs and other models.
  • Assess personality issues between partners and methods to deal with those differences.
  • Assess indicators to personality disorders from individual personality facets (traits) and when those indicators should be pursued.
  • Understand how personality testing can be helpful with employment issues.
  • Identify a “pop” psychology test that is useful and why other such tests have severe limitations.
  • Locate cost free and paid Five Factor Model instruments that are useful in clinical settings.
