Jim McAfee has been described as the Sherlock Holmes of Nutrition. He is one of the nation’s leading Clinical Nutritionists (1991) and a member of the Scientific Council of the International and American Associations of Clinical Nutritionists (2005). He has worked as Director of Nutritional Research for Image Awareness Wellness Institute since 1974. Jim became a member of GNLD's Health Professional's Council in 2006. Jim graduated Summa Cum Laude and valedictorian from Westmont College and Magna Cum Laude from Dallas Theological Seminary.
As a speaker Jim is mesmerizing. He is always on top of the most current nutritional information, but presents nutrition concepts in an entertaining manner. Audiences acknowledge Jim as one of the most articulate advocates for sound nutrition in America today. He has been a guest speaker for hundreds of groups as well as appearing on numerous radio & television shows. Tens of thousands of people around the world have read his books, newsletters, or listened to his audiotapes or CDs.
This presentation will cover:
- The manner in which toxic exposures and nutritional imbalances or deficiencies can contribute to loss of a sense of well-being, depression, and anxiety.
- The food-brain connection from the early work of Abram Hoffer with schizophrenia to current research.
- The manner in which altered gut function can contribute to a wide variety of behavioral changes from the mild like depression to the extreme such as autism spectrum disorders.

The course will meet the requirements for 2 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LPCCs, LEPs, and/or LCSWs. The Sierra Foothills Chapter of CAMFT is an approved CEU provider (PCE #4807) through the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

There is a $5 late registration fee for attendees registering at the door, so be sure to register early!

All members are welcomed to join the Board of Directors Meetings. Meetings are held from 8:00 to 9:00 AM at Max’s Holiday Inn on the same day of our trainings.
