PRESENTER:

Shea Phinney, LMFT # 50023

Ms. Phinney is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has been certified Level II with EAGALA as a mental health professional and equine specialist for over 5 years. She specializes in working with at-risk populations and provides individual and family therapy and equine-assisted therapy as well as facilitates workshops, pro-social skills, self-esteem and recovery groups. She combines strength based, solution focused, and other evidence-based treatment modalities that focus on the whole person and integrates mind, body, and spirit.

Participants will learn how equine assisted therapy is used as a treatment approach for all diagnoses and symptoms. PARTICIPANTS WILL ENGAGE WITH THE HORSES AND LEARN HANDS ON HOW EQUINE ASSISTED THERAPY CAN BENEFIT CLIENTS.

The off site will be held in Loomis, CA, close to the Loomis Park.  Directions will be sent to registrants on Thursday, 5/19.  In addition, the training requires that a two-page INSURANCE RELEASE FORM from Ms. Phinney be signed PRIOR TO PARTICIPATING IN THE TRAINING AND TURNED IN AT THE REGISTRATION TABLE. The form will also be emailed to participants who sign up for the training.

ACCOMMODATIONS

There is a walk from the parking area.  We will be roughing it. Wear comfortable clothes and a hat might be a good idea. CLOSED-TOE shoes are required as we will be working with the horses. Bring a lawn chair if you want to sit. Sanitary facilities are of an "outhouse" variety. The usual continental breakfast is not available but bottled water will be provided.
