Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a complex diagnosis, due to the differences in symptom presentation. We will describe the symptomatology of OCD, and provide an overview of obsessions and compulsions, prevalence of the disorder, co-occurring diagnoses and a case example followed by a Q&A.

Educational Goals
This course is designed to enhance therapists’ ability to accurately identify and differentiate between obsessions (intrusive, unwanted thoughts) and compulsions (repetitive behaviors or mental acts). It aims to improve therapists’ skills in assessing and evaluating clients’ obsessions and compulsions, enabling them to distinguish between anxiety disorders and OCD. Additionally, therapists will gain a comprehensive understanding of the available treatment interventions for adolescents and adults with OCD.
Objectives
Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the symptoms of OCD, including the nature of obsessions and compulsions.
Participants will be able to identify prevalence rates of OCD in various populations, including data for under-represented populations.
Participants will be able to identify three common comorbid conditions that often accompany OCD.
