This 6- hour workshop offers 6 hours of CEU credit concerning legal and ethical issues applicable to the practice of telehealth and the treatment of minors. Course content will satisfy the requirement for 3 hours of training or coursework in the provision of mental health services via telehealth, including legal and ethical issues related to the provision of telehealth that is applicable to licensees and applicants for licensure, effective July 1, 2023. This workshop will include a discussion of California regulations on the standards of practice for Telehealth, as described in section 1815.5 of the Code of Regulations, ethical standards applicable to Telehealth, Issues involving portability and jurisdiction when practicing across state lines, and HIPAA security requirements involving the use of Telehealth. The course will also include a discussion of issues involving consent for the treatment of minors, confidentiality issues when treating minors, and access to 2 the minor’s treatment records. Case vignettes will be used to illustrate concepts discussed, as time allows.
