Description of Presentation:
This winter has been a dark time of chaos, confusion, and fear. We are all eager to move past the challenges of the past year to focus on healing, restoration, and to bring vibrant and hopeful energy into our lives! The Spring Equinox is the perfect time to release old, stuck patterns, attitudes, and to usher in positive action-oriented energy to your personal goals. Learn how your clients can virtually "walk" the Labyrinth, in an age-old meditative practice to instill calm, create balance in the nervous system, release ineffectual habits and attitudes, receive wisdom from within, and be open to creativity and new growth.

This two-hour workshop for mental health professionals is offered at the beginning level but can benefit more experienced therapists. Simple embodiment techniques will be presented for tapping into the wisdom of the body in the office or virtual setting. In addition, how to access the ancient walking meditation practice of the Labyrinth to elicit an experience of calm, inner peace, and deep connection to self will be explained.

Educational Goals:
Participants will learn simple embodiment techniques for tapping into the wisdom of the body and how to utilize the ancient meditation practice of walking the Labyrinth to elicit an experience of calm, create balance in the nervous system, support goals for personal change, and be open to creativity, healing, and new growth. Participants will learn how to use embodiment techniques and the labyrinth as tools to support clients in the office or virtual setting.

Measurable Objectives:
After participating in this workshop, attendees will be able to:

  • Identify three methods for establishing a sense of ritual as a means for creating liminal (sacred) space
  • Describe how pivotal points in the earth’s rotation (Spring Equinox) provide advantageous opportunities for personal goal setting
  • Explain how the archetypal shape of the labyrinth supports balancing of right/left brain functions and nervous system regulation
  • Summarize three primary structural phases inherent in the ritual of walking the labyrinth as a tool for meditation and how these phases support the process of fulfilling personal goals
  • Use three embodiment techniques for tapping into the unconscious to support personal goal setting
  • Demonstrate how to support clients in the use of embodiment techniques and the finger labyrinth in the office setting
