Empowered Relating:  From Reaction to Creation

With Sonika Tinker, MSW

Description:
This course will help therapists empower their clients who are stuck in victim, complaint, and dysfunctional repetitive relationship patterns to step into power and possibility. Through the use of Positive Psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Visualization, therapists will discover the unworkability of common problem-solving strategies and approaches on the part of their clients, and learn highly effective alternative strategies for creating rapid personal and interpersonal change in relationships.

Presenter:
Sonika Tinker, MSW, CAMFT provider # 145916, is Certified Mediator, Certified NLP Professional, Relationship Specialist, business owner, co-author of Seize Your Opportunities and The Good Divorce, and is the founder of LoveWorks (loveworksforyou.com), a relationship and life skills training company. She has over 40 years’ experience and has coached thousands of men and women to create fulfilling lives and relationships. She produces and leads dozens of live transformational trainings and retreats each year and offers online courses with her husband, Christian Pedersen, CLC. She has a private coaching practice in Northern California.

Educational Goals:

For therapists to be able to utilize in their own relationships and counsel clients:

  1. Explain the four downsides and unworkability of complaint, blame, and criticism as problem-solving strategies in relationships;
  2. Demonstrate the connection between the power of language and mindset on relationship quality;
  3. Employ an effective strategy for taking responsibility and co-creating desirable outcomes;
  4. Apply four strategies for reinvention relationship from fresh perspectives and viision.

Learning Objectives: 

After the workshop, the specific skills, tools and exercises that participants will be able to teach their clients are:

  1. The power of language to change stories, beliefs, and create new possibilities
  2. How to visualize and help realize their own and spouse’s/partner’s fullest potential
  3. How to step out of victim into power
  4. Simple tools and exercises for increasing appreciation and celebration

This workshop is for all levels, licensed and pre-licensed as well as graduate students and trainees.

This presentation will award 2 CEUs or 2 Attendance Hours

Refund Policy:
Early registration closes on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 6 p.m.  Refunds may be provided to registrants prior to the close of registration, minus a $5 refund fee.  No refunds after the close of registration.  No partial credit for arriving late or leaving early.

Award of Course Completion Certificates:
Attendees will receive a Certificate for 2 CEUs or a Certificate for 2 hours of Attendance at the end of the course and upon completion of course evaluation.

Going East on I80 from Roseville, Rocklin, etc., take the Grass Valley Highway exit.  Turn right at the light, which is Highway 49 South.  Go to Lincoln Way and take a right. Go to next stoplight, which is Auburn-Folsom Road, and take a left.  Continue through several stoplights (approximately 1.5 miles).  ****SEE BELOW FOR MORE DIRECTIONS

Going West on I 80 from Colfax, etc., take the Elm Avenue exit.  Get into the left turn lane immediately and turn onto Elm Avenue.  Continue on Elm Avenue and turn left onto Grass Valley Highway.  Continue on Grass Valley Highway to Lincoln Way and take a right.  Go to next stoplight, which is Auburn-Folsom Road and take a left.   Continue through several stoplights (approximately 1.5 miles). ****SEE BELOW FOR MORE DIRECTIONS

Going South on Highway 49 from Nevada City, Grass Valley, etc., take a right at Lincoln Way.   Go to next stoplight, which is Auburn-Folsom Road, and take a left.  Continue through several stoplights (approximately 1.5 miles).  ****SEE BELOW FOR MORE DIRECTIONS

****Turn left onto Maidu Drive. Continue on Maidu Drive through several stop signs for about 1.2 miles, at which point Maidu Drive curves sharply to the left. (If you reach a green gate, you've gone too far.)  There is no sign on this part of the road, is rough with some potholes, and goes uphill.  Continue for about 0.2 miles.  Canyon View Community Center is on the right and is a light yellow/tannish building with green trim.  There will be the Sierra Foothills CAMFT poster on the door.

Sierra Foothills of CAMFT is approved by California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, and LEP as well as non-licensed AMFT, ASW, APCC, graduate students and trainees.  SFC CAMFT Provider # is 97723.

This course meets the qualifications for 2 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.  This course also meets the qualifications for 2 hours of attendance credit for Associate Marriage and Family Therapists (AMFT), Associate Social Workers (ASW), Associate Professional Clinical Counselors (APCC), trainees and graduate students as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
